geotagging
I first came across this concept at Burning Man 1999 where Cap'n Crunch (AKA John Draper-yes, the guy who invented the infamous "blue box" and phone phreaking) introduced me to some of the thinking behind location-aware communities, and just what kinds of great information can be had about a place one visits. I am still missing a management tool for the user generated content for this application. Anyone know of anything in this area?

Context Aware. The context is the context
This seems to be my phrase of the month. There are so many people trying to crack this context aware thing. It seems like anyone with any sort of content tube or communication bandwidth of any sort is on-board this train, even though some of them may not know it just yet. We saw this with Ad-Hoc networks in the military, and disaster recovery markets in the last 18 months, now we see it with recommendation and taste-finding applications on the net, and soon to come will be the interesting developments happening in the mobile arena. What all of these (and many more) applications share is that the more network endpoints there are, the more robust the network becomes. I read this back in 96' or 97' when Gilder put it out there, that maybe briefcase-sized cell-towers are the next point, now we can imagine convoys of cars that will be transferring bandwith as they move down the road, with no need for infrastructure. I know this rant may make little sense right now, but this is what is making me wake up in the morning with my heart pounding looking forward to what this all will evolve into. At M.Y. Firam we are working with 2 companies who are in this sphere of operation, and I hope to share, with their permission, what they have been up to in the last few months.
